On Being New

A new car.  A new start.  A new job.  A new idea.
A new problem.  A new law.  A new argument.  A new disease.
When we are ready for something different, when its predecessor didn’t work, we embrace the new with open arms.  When things are stable, when life and business is working how it should, the appearance of something new can flip us upside down.  It can sometimes even destroy us.
New brings with it hope and vitality, expectation and skepticism.  New hits all our emotional buttons simultaneously.
Will this new thing work?  Will this version of new finally be the new?
New can be our friend or foe.
As we enter into 2012, we have been given another ticket to start over, wipe our slate clean, learn more lessons, mature, realize that the more we know the less we know, try to fit into our jeans, save more money, make more money, fall in love, move on from an old one, figure out what we want to be when we grow up . . .
Welcome 2012 – the year loaded with expectation and skepticism, hopes and dreams.  I wish you luck.
Everyone is placing bets.

Happy New Year!

  1. "New" is good and one of my resolutions for the new year is to reorganize and prioritize! Finding a healthy balance between my writing and my networking will probably be my biggest challenge and I'm going to have to reorganize and prioritize in order to do that. Like your blog and I'll be back!

  2. Thanks Sandra. I hear you on the finding the "healthy balance". Glad you stopped by.
